Alexandre Dumas — The Count of Monte Cristo.

A spoiler-aware literary record for a novel that first reached readers in serial form.

1 MIN READ

Alexandre Dumas’s Le Comte de Monte-Cristo first appeared as a newspaper serial from 1844 to 1846, then in book editions. The Bibliothèque nationale de France catalog records its publication history, including installments in Journal des débats and book publication in 1845–46.

At its center is Edmond Dantès, a young sailor whose life is redirected by a false accusation. That premise is enough for an unspoiled introduction; the novel’s pleasure depends on how information and identity unfold, so this entry leaves the later turns alone.

The book belongs in this archive because it is a named literary interest supplied by the owner. No reading status, edition, completion date or personal review is claimed. If those details are added later, they should come from a real reading note rather than an inferred biography.

A 2002 screen adaptation is catalogued separately here. Spoilers are kept in a marked, collapsed note on that entry.
