Minecraft is on the owner’s game list, and it earns its place here on the strength of a simple idea: a world is made of pieces with rules you can learn. Redstone turns those rules into switches, clocks, and contraptions. The same save can be a quiet building project one day and a little engineering puzzle the next.
That world is also a file worth backing up. Local saves, server worlds, mod lists, and launchers all add their own state. Anyone documenting a particular build or server should record the edition and setup, then keep access details private.
Mojang says the first PC version appeared in 2009 and the full release followed in 2011. Its official history is a good place to start for current editions.
